Practice Principles

Nine guiding principles underpin service delivery at YETI. The principles are incorporated into all aspects of service delivery and reflected in the service standards, policies and procedures.

EMPOWERMENT
We empower young people to have control over their lives and to learn through their experiences.

SOCIAL JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS
We are committed to social justice and human rights.

ACCESSIBILITY AND ACCEPTANCE
We are accessible to young people and value their diverse backgrounds and experiences.

TRAUMA INFORMED
Our work is based on a strong understanding of the impact of violence and trauma that young people who come to YETI may have experienced.

COMPASSION AND CARE
Our service is based on care and compassion. We focus on the safety, health and well-being of young people.

INTEGRITY AND RESPECT
We respect young people and are open and honest with them. Participation in our services by young people is voluntary.

HARM MINIMISATION
We will work with young people through harm reduction strategies to limit or minimise the hazards and negative effects of drug and alcohol use.

LEARNING AND CHANGING
We are committed to learning as an organisation.

COMMUNITY FOCUSSED
We collaborate with the communities we work in to assist young people to have the best chances, choices and life opportunities.
