Induction Booklet Provided to New Clients

Workshops

We run a variety of activities and workshops and we will be also let you know what other things are on around the place. Please look at the activities notices for this information on the wall down stairs.

Client Confidentiality

YETI staff will not advise others as to whether or not you have been or are on YETI premises. When clients sharing info with a worker, that info will be strongly respected. If you have any questions about this feel free to ask.

Showers

Just ask the staff for a towel. We would also ask that you consider your water usage as well, keeping the bathroom clean.

Transport

YETI - would encourage young people to become independent by arranging their own transport to and from the service. However, in an emergency or case management situation transport maybe provided.

Food

Tea and coffee will be available in the downstairs area, as will toast. Free bread on Wednesdays.

Here at YETI

  • EVERYONE has the right to feel safe.
  • EVERYONE has the right to RESECT.
  • No VIOLENCE
  • No DEALING or USING DRUGS (If these four rules are broken there will be consequences of action).

Stereo/pool table/computer

In order to respect others in the area it is asked that the volume stays at a respectable level. The pool table will take the rule 'winner keeps the table'. There is a half hour limit on the computer when others are waiting to have a go.

Lost Property

YETI can not take responsibility for any loss or damage to property. You need to be responsible for your own things.

Workers Responsibility

(as per staff policies and procedures)

  • WORKERS ARE NOT ALLLOWED TO LEND MONEY OR CIGARETTES.
  • WORKERS ARE NOT TO GIVE YOUNG PEOPLE LIFTS IN THEIR PRIVATE CARS.
  • WORKERS ARE NOT TO SOCALISE WITH YOUNG PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF WORKING HOURS.

Upstairs Access

YETI staff ask that the upstairs area be used to access counselors. If you would like to come upstairs please check with the worker downstairs first. This is for the privacy of others.

Consequences of Actions

  • WARNING (VERBAL)
  • SECOND WARNING (ASK TO LEAVE FOR THE DAY)
  • BAN (6 WEEKS)
  • (EXCESSIVE BAD BEHAVIOUR MAY RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING)

Clients Rights and Responsibilities

Responsibility

  • Respect the neighbours and others by keeping the noise down.
  • Remain aware of YETI rules and practice them.
  • No abusive behaviour or physical contact.
  • If you use the service, clean up after yourself.
  • RESPECT those outside of YETI.
  • Do not enter the other workers area unless they are there.
  • If you see blood, tell the worker, do NOT TOUCH IT.

Rights

All young people and workers have the right to be treated with respect. You have the right to make a complaint - making a complaint does not effect your rights to participate in Yeti activities. All young people have the right to ask for emotional or any other kind of support while they are here.
